It's official! Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences celebrated the opening of its new Amsterdam building during a low-key but joyous event on Friday evening.

Though students and staff already moved in late August, in time for the start of the new academic year, the official "housewarming" party only happened on Friday. The building was opened for visitors on Friday afternoon to tour and admire the premises.

Despite the cold, visitors poured in to admire the Dali-building situated in the southeast part of Amsterdam. Said Wittenborg CEO, Maggie Feng: "It was fantastic to see the diverse range of visitors - there were professors from other universities like the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Webster University and Leiden University, as well as our direct neighbours and business contacts from the Amsterdam region. Even representatives from Amsterdam city council! They were all very impressed with the building."

The Wittenborg Amsterdam campus moved from the south bank of the IJ to the up-and-coming southeast Amsterdam area where many international companies are located, such as the EU headquarters of Adidas and the Dutch offices of Deutsche Bank. It is also close to the Johan Cruijff Arena, formerly known as the Amsterdam Arena, which is home to Dutch football club Ajax.

Wittenborg's IBA in Entrepreneurship & Small Business, also known as Entrepreneurial Business Administration (EBA) programme, is offered in Amsterdam along with its International Master of Business Administration, its MBA in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and its MBA in Finance.

Feng specially thanked different contractors who worked during the summer holidays - a period during which the Dutch construction industry ordinarily take mandatory leave - to make the renovations possible. "People had to work through this period to make the deadlines so the lessons could start in the first week of September."
