Question:

E-Library: How can I get access to the books online.

Answer:

We use Perlego as main database for our e-library. Students and Staff needs to create an account on Perlego to access the books. A Registration code is required to create an account via Perlego, which has been provided in each Process tutor area. Follow the instructions for account creation in the attached guide.

Always use the link provided in this guide to create your account on Perlego.  Creating an account without using this link will give you a trial access of Perlego for 14 days and thereafter will start asking you for the payment. Therefore, you are always advised to use the link provided in the guide for account creation.

Education Department- How can I contact the education department?

Answer:

While the Education Department office is open daily for short questions, for consultations please make an appointment by email to education@wittenborg.eu and you will receive a confirmation within 3 working days.

EEG: What is the EEG and where can I find it?

Answer:

The Education and Examination Guide (EEG) is the first thing you need to read before you start your classes. The EEG consists of all the crucial information you need for your studies, including handbooks on work placement, graduation assignment, academic writing, etc. 

EEGs are available for each study programme and can be found in the online Moodle area (https://www.wittenborg-online.com).

EEG: Whom can I contact for clarifying doubts on the EEG?

If students have questions about a section in the EEG, they can contact their process tutor to guide them. Process tutors will be allocated by Wittenborg and during the Introduction Week, students will be informed on how to contact their process tutor, to make an appointment.

Before students arrive at Wittenborg, we recommend reading a few sections of the EEG to get an impression of the education system at our university. The following sections are recommended:

An email receipt is sent to your S#@student.wittenborg.eu account each time the assignment has been submitted on Turnitin.

Emergency Contact: Where can I find important telephone numbers in case of emergencies?

You can find basic information about living in the Netherlands from Wittenborg-online, on your Dashboard under the title ‘Information for International Students in the Netherlands or through this link: https://www.wittenborg-online.com/enrol/index.php?id=1183

All information pertaining to your living in the Netherlands, from the time before your arrival to after you graduate can be found here. If you are staying at Wittenborg’s accommodation, the student housing information booklet placed inside your room and in the common area contains emergency numbers in case of urgent needs. This information can be found in the first page and contains numbers of Wittenborg Housing Department, Police, Fire Brigade and Hospital.

Generally, the Dutch emergency number for police, fire department and ambulance is 112. The Call Centre respondent will respond to the call and ask who you are, where the emergency takes place and what the emergency is. They will then send the right forces (police, ambulance or fire service) to the scene.

Note: Only call these numbers if the matter cannot wait another minute with the issue. The Netherlands has a strict policy on emergency numbers. It is considered a crime to unnecessarily call 112. They will charge the person who calls the emergency number for nothing.

If someone needs the police for something else than an urgent crime, they can be reached at 0900-8844. For minor issues destined to be solved by the fire department, the phone number of the Apeldoorn fire department is 055-548 3555. 

In case of health issues, if one is not in immediate life danger, do not call 112. Call the Family doctor’s office by dialling 0555333288 and press 1 for emergency. They will tell you what to do next. If someone has a major health issue out of office hours, they can call the Apeldoorn Huisartsenpost. The telephone number is 0900 - 600 9000. They will give you instructions on what to do next.

 Note: Do not go to the emergency room/hospital without calling the Huisartsenpost first. This will not be covered by the insurance and it will take a lot of time before they can help.


Question:

English Competency: How can I improve my English level for my study?

Answer:

At Wittenborg, we have modules which help you develop your English Language competency. These are as follows: 
a) Mandatory PDP (Personal Development Planning) module which includes Academic English, as well as TIPS (Training in Interpersonal Skills) module. These two modules are mandatory for Phase 1 and Phase 2 Bachelor students but optional for Master students. These modules help you to develop your academic writing skills as well as presentation skills. You will have opportunities to practice these skills by participating in the lessons, activities and seminars.
b) For students who failed the Support English Assessment (the Diagnostic Writing Test carried out during Introduction Day), they have to attend the Support English module. This support module will help to raise your English standards to a level where the general English is solid enough to eventually incorporate the more specific skills of Academic English.

Apart from the above, you can also do your own self-study through relevant reading materials or referring to English/Grammar/Vocabulary online sources. Try the following:
i) Check the EEG Part 5a Academic Writing Handbook for guides on the language and how to do referencing 

ii) Read this News article which gives suggestions on how you can improve your English

iii) Visit the website BBC: Go the Distance: Academic Writing

iv) Visit the website Harvard College Writing Centre: Strategies for Essay Writing

Enrolled Programmes: How can I see the details of enrolled programmes on my results page?

This can be done by clicking the 'Personal details' option on the http://myresults.wittenborg.eu. The 'Personal details' option shows only your active programmes.

In order to know what modules you have to attend in each block please check your study programme curriculum. This can be found in your programme's Education and Examination Guide (EEG) online (Part 3)

Exam Results: Where can I view my exam marks or results?

Answer:

The exam results can be found in http://myresults.wittenborg.eu. Students can click on the 'Study Progress Review' by clicking on the 'Progress' tab.

Steps

  • Go to http://myresults.wittenborg.eu.
  • Log in with your Wittenborg credentials (same as Wittenborg Online & timetable).
  • Click on Progress and choose Only print contributing test results.
  • Select Show on screen to view the results on screen or Download file to download your results.

Note: If results are missing on MyResults, please send an email to examresults@wittenborg.eu



Question:

Exam Review: How is exam review conducted for Type 1 WRITTEN exams?

As described in the General Assessment Policy, in Part 5 of the EEG, students will be given an opportunity to review their made exams and they can discuss the grading with the exam review organizer. Any questions or doubts about the marking criteria can be raised during this session and registered for further review or appeal that will be forwarded to the respective teacher. No extended opportunities are organised outside these sessions scheduled during the project week, under general circumstances.

Exam Reviews are organised per phase and students are advised to check the timetable for specific information such as the exact date, time and location. 

Kindly note the Exam Review Rules below.

Exam Review Instructions 

  • All examination Hall rules apply to exam reviewers. 
  • Students are NOT allowed to take partial or complete exam papers outside the room. 
  • Making notes from any exams is NOT allowed. 
  • Photocopying or taking pictures of exams is NOT allowed. 
  • Sharing of exams among other students is NOT allowed.  
  • Pens/erasers are NOT allowed when reviewing exams. 
  • Students are NOT allowed to write, add or erase anything on their exam papers.  
  • A student can only review ONE exam at a time. A student must return the first exam paper before being allowed to review another exam paper. 
  • Students are NOT allowed to talk to each other or hold discussions during the exam review.  

 Some useful tips: 

  • Verify marks per question. 
  • Count/confirm the final mark. 
  • For discrepancies raise your hand and exam organizer will attend to you. 
  • After analysing the paper and an issue is found, fill in the exam review form completely with all the required information and write in readable English. Partially filled or difficult to read forms will not be handled. 
  • If necessary to discuss any raised issues, a meeting with the teacher concerned can also be arranged within two weeks. Please indicate this in the form with your questions.  

 Note (!) Violation of the rules can lead to serious consequences as per the Examination rules stated in the EEG. Such cases will be referred to the Graduation & Examination board for the decision.  



Question:

Exam Review: How is exam review conducted for Type 1/Type 2 ONLINE assignments?

All students should be given the opportunity to review their marked exam papers.
If a student does not agree with the grade and the feedback given by the faculty member for the online assignment submitted, the student must first contact and discuss it with the faculty member. A formal appeal can be made and sent to examresults@wittenborg.eu where there is further disagreement on the grade. The appeal email must contain the name of the module and name of the relevant examiner and the grounds for the appeal. It is obligatory for the appealing student to enclose all the email correspondences with the lecturer in which their initial appeal was declined. Once the complete formal appeal is received, it will be processed internally, and the student will be notified about the outcome.

As a standard quality control procedure, a moderation process is conducted by the exam committee prior to the results released to students for consistency in grading. And if inefficiencies of grading are found, corrective measures will be taken. This process is put in place to ensure that the students are not disadvantaged. 

Note: Students can only send appeal request within 1 week after receiving the results.

Exam Timetable: How can I access the examination timetable?

Answer:

You need to login in the timetable, select your programme, then save timetable. Now, you can find your examination dates.

https://timetable.wittenborg.eu is the webpage that has all scheduled classes & exams for all programmes. You need to access it to find information on the scheduled class & exam location, date and time and lecturer details.

Exam Type1: What are the new changes to exam type 1 in 2020-21?

Type 1 assessments are closed or open book examinations held in school ​under invigilation​. After having experimented with online ​exam type 1 examinations, uploaded answers and the management of these during the retake weeks of block 8 (which were held at the end of August) we have identified various issues with ​organizing a traditional open book exam online.

Therefore, we have decided to implement the following ​for the complete academic year 2020-21:

  • From Block 1, all Type 1 assessments will now follow the following format:
    • Type 1 assessments will now be assignments given in the form of open-book questions. The questions should result in a report that is uploaded through Turnitin;
    • ​The examiner could ask either similar questions on a certain topic or could be a different set of questions to effectively cover the module aims and objectives. It will not be a standard type 2 exam report, project and/or theoretical paper but open-ended questions with an application, reasoning, reflection etc.; 
    • Per question, there should be a description/instructions on what the student is expected to do, plus a maximum and minimum word count for all questions.  The Type 1 assignment will be created in a ready to use a Word template that the student downloads and completes. This will provide uniformity;
    • The assignment ​with questions for ​final module assessments should be made available to students as of 4 pm on the Friday of week five of the block;
    • The deadline for submission of the assignment through turning it in should be set as 4 pm on the Friday of exam week of the block (week 6);

Type 2 assignments have no changes to the standard assessment as described in the relevant EEG and module guides.
