GREAT-Team Concludes Successful Meeting in Scotland with Wittenborg Offering Training on Tool for Collectives

Last week the GREAT-project team concluded a very successful partner meeting in Inverness, Scotland.

GREAT-Team Concludes Successful Meeting in Scotland with Wittenborg Offering Training on Tool for CollectivesThe GREAT (Growing Renewable Energy Applications and Technologies) project is an EU funded, cross-border project under the INTERREG IVB NWE Programme. GREAT aims to encourage communities and small to medium size enterprises (SMEs) to develop technological solutions for Smart Grid, Renewable Energy and Distributive Generation. It also supports research and develop policy issues for regulatory authorities and provide structured co-operation opportunities between SMEs and research institutes or technology developers.  

This was one of the last meetings of the current GREAT partnership - the final meeting will take place in September 2015 in Brussels.  The group is already planning the next follow-up GREAT project, entitled GREATER!

Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences, one of the Dutch partners in the project, contributed to the meeting by offering a training session by senior researcher, Dr Mirjam Leloux, about a tool for Collectives which should help companies and managers to make informed decisions about  the most cost effective and efficient RE solution that could be adopted and implemented.

In the meantime the tool that has already been developed for individual SME's, which will be tested further among a number of companies in The Netherlands and the partner countries. Wittenborg also submitted papers about the research results and outcomes, which were accepted for 3 different conferences and will be presented. One of the papers was presented to the 11th International Conference on "European Integration - New Challenges" - EINCO 2015, University of Oradea, Faculty of Economic Sciences Oradea, Romania, on 29-30 May 2015.

Harkema S., Leloux M., Popescu F.  "Exploration into the barriers and obstacles constraining diffusion and adoption of renewable energy solutions", Paper presented to the international conference "New Trends in Sustainable Business and Consumption", organized by the Association for Quality and Innovation for Sustainable Business on the  18th to 19th of June in Bucharest which will be hosted by the Faculty of Business and Tourism, Bucharest University of Economic Studies.

"Challenges In the diffusion and adoption of sustainable energy solutions among SME's", Paper presented to the International Conference on Advanced Technology & Sciences (ICAT'15) organized by ATScience Academic Publishing Group, Selcuk University and Gazi University together with other collaborating universities in Antalya, Turkey on 04-07 August, 2015.
