Academics from UK and Netherlands Gather on 28 March for Wittenborg's Symposium on MA in Education.

Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences is excited to announced that on 28 March 2019 it will host a high-level Symposium on its new Master of Arts in Education, featuring academic experts from both the UK and the Netherlands. 

Registration for the event can be done here . All education enthusiasts, academic experts and prospective students are welcome to attend. The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Ron Tuninga, who has worked extensively for top universities in the UK, US, Denmark and the Netherlands over the past three years. Tuninga also currently serves as Wittenborg’s Vice-President: Academic Affairs. His speech will centre around quality development in further education.  

The MA in Education is due to start in the autumn of 2019. It will be offered jointly by Wittenborg and the University of Brighton in the UK. The programme is aimed at educators and experts who wish to further their professional development and feel inspired to study within the context of an international environment. Wittenborg’s School of Education is headed by Bert Meeuwsen MBA MEd. During the symposium prospective students will learn about the structure of the MA in Education and how it might work alongside their professional context and practice. They will also be able to glean information on applying for the programme.  

Other speakers at the symposium will include luminaries such as Dr Marlon Moncrieffe, senior lecturer in Education Studies at Brighton’s School of Education, who has won wide acclaim for his work in addition to being co-opted as a Council Member of the British Educational Research Association (BERA).

Workshops on the Master of Arts in Education will be given by Brighton lecturers, Dr Soo Sturrock and Dr Alison Barnes. The title of the workshop is “Research-literate practitioners: the place of MA Education for continuing professional development”. Barnes will also close the symposium, together with Meeuwsen.  

Wittenborg’s chair of the executive board, Peter Birdsall, will welcome guests and give an introduction to the event together with Sturrock.  

The symposium will be held in Apeldoorn at Wittenborg’s Spoorstraat location on 28 March from 15:00.
