Wittenborg's Annual Barbeque: Where Good Friends and Great Food Unite

In a vibrant celebration of community and camaraderie, Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences marked a significant moment with its annual barbeque event. This year's gathering, held on 22 September, served as a memorable occasion, not only to inaugurate the new academic block that had commenced earlier in the month but to foster stronger connections among students, teachers and staff at Wittenborg's Brinklaan Campus in Apeldoorn.

The event welcomed more than 200 people, including an impressive number of the university's neighbours. Vanessa de Oliveira Menezes, Associate Professor at Wittenborg, highlighted the significance of such occasions, stating, "I think this is a great opportunity to meet the neighbours and students, so it is a way integrating our community."

Talieh Sayyarshahrestani from Wittenborg's Research Centre also expressed her thoughts on the barbeque, noting that it provided an excellent opportunity to unwind, connect with colleagues and enjoy the evening.

"It was wonderful to catch up with all my peers in such a relaxed and informal setting. The highlight of the evening was, however, the mouthwatering food and refreshing drinks."

Culinary Diversity: Exploring a world of flavours

Just like every year before, a diverse culinary selection was on offer to ensure that everyone felt accommodated, regardless of dietary preferences. The menu featured a range of options, including halal, vegetarian and vegan dishes, with highlights such as the popular veggie burger and a variety of fresh salads. Beniamin Droukin, an HBA (Hospitality Business Administration) graduate in Events Management from Israel and Russia, commended the availability of vegan dishes, even though he himself is not vegan. According to Droukin, this thoughtful gesture ensured that all attendees could enjoy the event without any dietary concerns.

As the sun set on yet another successful edition of this event, it reiterated Wittenborg's dedication to preserving the university's family spirit year after year.
