Witttenborg Students Fly off for Shanghai Adventure

Ever enjoyed a trip so much that you feel you can stay there forever? This has been the experience of 8 students from Wittenborg University who are currently on a study visit in Shanghai, China's most populous city and a global financial hub.

The 10-day trip, which will end on 5 June, is part of an international Project Week where the students will visit some of Shanghai's most famous sights and also regularly pop in at Wittenborg's educational partner, the Shanghai Business School (SBS).  They are accompanied by Wittenborg's admission officer, Florian Oosterberg, who speaks fluent Mandarin. China plays an increasing role in the world, thus understanding the Chinese (business) culture and educational system is key for future business managers.

The first day was spent strolling the streets of Shanghai and a visit to the Shanghai museum, courtesy of 3 SBS students. At the museum they looked at Chinese calligraphy, sculptures and ceramics. Thereafter it was a walk down Shanghai's famous Nanjing Road, which leads to the Bund. "This road is very broad and suitable for pedestrians, with on both sides huge buildings and malls," Oosterberg said.

It was also here that students had a surprise encounter with Witttenborg alumnus, Veerle Knechten, who graduated in the summer of 2015 and is currently studying at Hult International Business School in San Francisco.

On Monday students headed off to SBS where they had a Chinese language class, mingled with local students and also lunch. Tuesday, accompanied by staff from SBS, there was a visit to Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Product Trade Center.
