Representatives Given Tour of Event Venue

A group of EuroCHRIE board members visited Wittenborg between 24 and 25 March to check how the preparations for EuroCHRIE Apeldoorn 2022 are going, including the venue planning and organisation. The conference – being organised by Wittenborg – will take place in October this year, and is targeted at students, educators, researchers and professionals from the tourism, hospitality and events industry.

The visiting party was composed of EuroCHRIE president Henri Kuokkanen, vice-president Peter Russell and eight other representatives (see list below). They were welcomed by Wittenborg CEO Maggie Feng, who is also EuroCHRIE’s Director of Conferences, as well as the school’s EU project coordinator, Aydan Ismayilova, Process & Quality Manager Myra Qiu and associate professor Vanessa Menezes.

During a venue tour through the Aventus Building, visitors were shown the spaces for presentations, lunch and work areas, the auditorium where the opening ceremony will take place and the sponsors’ & poster presentations area. Later, Feng joined the other EuroCHRIE representatives for a Board Meeting.

According to Wittenborg’s EU project coordinator Aydan Ismayilova, the board members were satisfied with the level of readiness of the venue and planning of the scientific programme, and gave some recommendations for further improvements to the conference planning.

Ismayilova added that the preparations for the event are going very well, and mentioned that Wittenborg students will have the chance to participate in the organisation of the conference. “We will soon start the student volunteer programme that will allow our hospitality students to get on board with the organisation of the conference and gain hands-on experience in its delivery,” she said.

Call for Papers: Deadline Extended

Due to the high amount of requests and interest in the conference, the paper submission deadline for EuroCHRIE Apeldoorn 2022 has been extended. The new deadline for all submissions – including papers, posters, symposium & workshop proposals – is Sunday, 24 April. For more information, click here.
