Change of Address deadline: I have checked out from student housing. Do I have to register my new address immediately?
1. If you move within or to the municipality of Apeldoorn, you are legally obliged to inform the city hall.
a. Firstly, please send us your new address by writing to email@example.com
b. Secondly, you need to change your address online with your DigiD code. Completing this process is your own responsibility.
The following link is the page on the city hall website, which informs how to change your address online.
You must inform the municipality of your change of address anywhere between 4 weeks prior to moving and 5 days after moving. The moving date that you provide will be treated as the day on which your address changed. If you inform the municipality more than 5 days after moving, the date on which you inform the municipality will be treated as the moving date. Municipalities can impose a fine of up to €325 if you do not inform them in time of important changes to your personal information.

Charging Equipments: How can I charge my laptop or mobile phone once I arrive in the Netherlands?
Travel with a mobile phone, tablet or laptop can be difficult without the right adapter. Make sure you bring a European adapter from home, or buy one at any of the local shops once you arrive in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands (Holland) the power plugs and sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Check Out Notice: Should I give prior notice of my intention to check out?
Yes. Residents must give at least four weeks’ notice in advance to Wittenborg Housing of their intended check-out date and time, so a mutually suitable pre-check-out time can be agreed by both parties. The intended check-out date and time can be on or before the last date of the housing package.

Check-in Rules: I have moved into Wittenborg student housing recently. What should I do next?
At check-in, residents are provided with an inventory checklist, the Check-In Form*. Please use this document to report any issues within your apartment and submit it signed to the front office within 3 working days of your arrival. If this document is not submitted, it is taken as confirmation that all items, and dormitory, as set out in the inventory checklist, are present and in good condition. Residents must pay for any damages incurred outside normal ‘wear and tear’.
*This list is used again when checking out. The items on the back of the form must be present when checking out. All missing items are to be paid for by the leaving student. The personal items on the list must be removed from the room.

Class Attendance: Whom can I contact if I cannot attend the classes?
Due to the
current situation, attendance requirement will not be re-introduced; however,
we will maintain the participation requirement for taught modules. We will
ensure that teachers make the 'participation' manageable without increasing the
study load but adding to the learning experience. Please refer to the respective module online areas for further instructions on participation requirements.

Class Cancellations/Changes Notifications: How can I receive notifications about any cancellations/changes in my classes?
You will be notified of any changes in your classes if you activate the notification setting in your time table. Activating the notifications in your timetable will enable you to keep track of changes in the room and time or cancellation of your classes. You will receive a notification via your student email account.

Class Participation Requirements: Is it necessary/compulsory to participate in class participation activities when doing a retake?
Yes, it is compulsory to fulfil all the requirements as defined in a module (all/any participation activity/ (ies) including draft submission), If a module is retaken in a normal block (Blocks 1-3 or 5-7).
If you want to retake the module during the retake blocks, this requirements does not apply.

As a new student the first person you should get in touch with is your process tutor. Your process tutor is your contact person and advisor during your studies. At the introduction week you will be informed about your process tutor.
A study agreement is a formal requirement

Contacting Lecturers: How can I reach the lecturers?
The lecturers will be available online as per the schedules shown in the timetables for all modules.
Communication will take place through the individual Forum and through the Chat function. Lecturers and support staff can set up Skype calls in teams with students and groups during the timetabled hours.

Contacting Staff - How can I communicate with the Wittenborg teachers and staff?
You can communicate with Wittenborg teachers and staff via Email, Teams or Phone. Teachers usually provide their email addresses to students during the first lesson, so do take down their email addresses when given. Additionally, you can find email addresses of Wittenborg staff in your Outlook address book. You can also find the teachers/staff by typing their names in Teams and you can directly communicate with them.
If you are unsure, you can always contact front desk for help at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All students are required to use their Wittenborg student email with Semail@example.com for any official communication.
In relation to the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) it is essential that students only send university-related material and emails through the official student email account (@student.wittenborg.eu).

Cost of Living: What is the cost of living in Apeldoorn?
Students in Apeldoorn can enjoy a very reasonable cost of living. The cost of living in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands is approximately 800 - 900 Euro per month according to the reputable institute NIBUD.nl.
These main costs include:

Apeldoorn versus Amsterdam
Experience has shown that students living and studying in Apeldoorn spend approximately €800 a month; however, in Amsterdam this can be up to €1,000 a month. This amount is needed to cover daily expenses, meals, accommodation costs, insurance, study books, etc. This estimate does not include tuition fees and unforeseen costs and should be used as a general indication of the costs of living. How much money you will actually need depends on your lifestyle. The costs for housing, for example, may differ considerably. Also, if you plan to travel during your stay, you will obviously need more money.

COVID-19 Matters - New Student: I am a new student for block 6 / block 7, but I have decided to stay in my home country due to COVID-19. Can I join classes online or defer my studies to a later intake?
Yes, you are most welcome to join classes online! If you planned to start your studies in block 6 2020 (30th March), you can join our introduction week on 25th and 26th of March online. In this case, you should have received an email from our Front Desk team (firstname.lastname@example.org) inviting you for the introduction week. Please let us know if you have not received your invitation for the introduction week if you are scheduled to start your studies in block 6 by emailing email@example.com.
In preparation for the introduction week, please make sure that you have a stable internet connection along with a computer so that you can follow and execute the instructions (such as activating your student account) at the same time. During the introduction week, our Front Desk will explain in detail how you can join our online learning environment.
Alternatively, you can also defer your application to a later intake. Make sure to inform our Registrar Department at firstname.lastname@example.org accordingly.

COVID-19 Matters - Residence Permit: How will it affect my student residence permit if I decide to stay outside of the Netherlands?
As of 19-03-2021, the flexibility introduced by IND after COVID-19 that made it possible for the students to stay outside the Netherlands for a maximum of 12 months, comes to an end. Accordingly, the student who stays outside the Netherlands for more than 6 months is considered that he/she moved his/her main residence unless it is demonstrated in that individual case that student could not return to the Netherlands earlier due to unforeseeable circumstances, i.e. “force majeure”.
A student who relocates his/her main residence loses the right to the residence permit.
When should I come back?
Please note: It is not possible to return to the Netherlands after your main residency is withdrawn by the IND. This means that you cannot enter the Netherlands anymore. Consequently, a new visa application (TEV or VVR without MVV) must be submitted, which costs extra time and money for you.

COVID-19 Test: How can I get tested for coronavirus?
If you have symptoms such as a cold, cough, fever or sudden loss of smell or taste, you can get tested to see if you are infected with coronavirus. This will help us control the spread of the virus and protect one another.
Register for a coronavirus test
If you have (mild) symptoms of COVID-19, make an appointment to get tested. Call the toll-free number 0800 1202 (or +31 850 659 063 if you're calling from a foreign phone) or make an appointment online using your DigiD (choose 'English' at the bottom of the page). Be sure to have your citizen service number (BSN) at hand.
You can only make an appointment if you have one or more symptoms of COVID-19, such as: cold-like symptoms, a stuffy nose, a runny nose, sneezing, a sore throat, a cough, fever, or sudden loss of smell or taste. If you have severe symptoms or belong to an at-risk group, contact a doctor or A&E department. In a life-threatening situation, always call 112.
Testing at a GGD test location

When you call 0800-1202 (or +31 850 659 063 if you're calling from abroad) you’ll be connected to an assistant. This is not a doctor. The assistant will find the first available appointment for you. Some test locations can only be accessed by car. Once your test appointment is confirmed over the phone, you will receive a confirmation SMS together with the time and address.
Stay at home until it is time to go to the test location. Bring proof of identity and confirmation of your appointment with you. Your details will be checked when you arrive. A GGD staff member will use a cotton swab to collect mucus from your throat and nose. The swab will go deep into your nose and throat. It will not hurt, but will probably feel uncomfortable. Go home immediately after the test and stay home until you get the results.
Coronavirus test results
If you made an appointment by telephone, you will receive your result by telephone as soon as possible. If you made an appointment online, you will receive a telephone call only if you test positive. The municipal health service (GGD) will call you. You do not need to call them.
If your test comes back negative, you can confirm your result by logging in to the coronavirus test website using your DigiD (choose 'English' at the bottom of the page). You will be notified by email when your result is available on the website, normally within 2 days. If the test is negative, you are not infected with coronavirus. But you must still continue to observe the general measures.
If the test shows that you do have COVID-19, someone from the GGD will call you for contact tracing.
Contact tracing means working out where you may have contracted the infection (the source). The GGD also looks at whom you have been in contact with (PDF, 210 KB), and whom you may have infected (your contacts). The purpose of contact tracing is to prevent the virus from spreading further. You and your contacts will be given specific instructions on what to do. You and any other members of your household must in any case stay at home for 10 days. The GGD will explain what this means. It is important that you inform your GP, employer and/or in-house medical officer of the results of the test.
Coronavirus test at Schiphol Airport
If you are travelling to the Netherlands from a COVID-19 risk area you can get tested for coronavirus at Schiphol Airport. The municipal health service (GGD) does not test all travellers from COVID-19 risk areas.
